Jeremiah 21, 24, 27; 1John 2
The godly Jews awaiting the judgement of God through Nebuchadnezzar had been given a way of escape. They will lose everything they hold dear but keep their lives. The apostle John gives us a similar message. Long ago God made up his mind about how he will judge the world of it sin. If we are to escape with our lives we need to reject all the intricacies and attractions of the world and to live solely for him. How we work this through is up to each of us, but we cannot fool God with pretence and hypocrisy. Our walk with him must be transparent and clear to all.
