Jeremiah 13-15; John 15
There are ten times in John 15 where Jesus tells us plainly to remain in him. This is not from the point of view of a master speaking to a servant but friend to friend. He wants our loyalty, love and friendship. While it may be difficult to think of God as our friend it is incumbent on us to pursue Jesus in this way. Why? It is because the scriptures tell us so. We must develop confidence in the Lord and understand that he knows us better than we know ourselves. It is when we trust ourselves to him, giving ourselves over to him completely that we realise how close a friend he really is.
