2 Kings 24; Jeremiah 22; Ps112; John 18
In the readings today two Kings stand in judgement over the sin of their nation. Both Kings are subjected to the might and strength of a prevailing army and will face the worst punishment those armies can administer. Both prevailing armies unwittingly act as proxies for the Lord God. One king goes into disgrace the other is redeemed from death and raised to life to an eternal throne in heaven. When the innocent cry out for justice and the wicked seem to win all the time, it is death that separates them. The wealth and power of the wicked will not help them when standing before the King of Righteousness; the very embodiment of Truth. Eternity is a long time and our time here is short. We must make the best use of it now.
