Micah 5-7; Heb 7
Tithing is a most misunderstood Christian practice today. When Jesus was in the desert and Satan tempted him Jesus told him; “Do not put the Lord God to the test.” (Luke 4:12). This is true, however there is one exception. In Malachi chapter 3 the Israelites were accused of robbing God by not bringing in the tithes and offerings into the storehouse of God. In verse 10 God says, “... test me in this … and see if I will not throw open the floodgates … and pour out a blessing.” Tithing is not a law, it is an act of faith. Sometimes it's not easy to do but it quietly and simply puts our faith into perspective and allows God to move abundantly in our lives. Sure, money is important but it should not dominate our lives. God does not need our money and neither should we if we live faithful, productive lives before God.
